Kolkata: In more trouble for the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Monday filed a complaint with the Election Commission (EC) against him for a campaign speech he made in Asansol in West Bengal.
The TMC alleged that Modi was seeking votes in the name of religion and was attempting to spread communal disharmony.
The TMC alleged that Modi broke the EC's model code of conduct which bars the use of religion or religious symbols during campaigns.
Modi, during his Asansol rally, had said that Bangladeshi immigrants into India will have to go back. TMC chief and Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had hit back saying Modi was trying to divide the state over religion and ethnicity.
