Hero XPulse Test Mule Spotted, To Come With Large-Capacity Engine
Hero XPulse Test Mule Spotted, To Come With Large-Capacity Engine
Hero MotoCorp is currently working on a new Hero XPulse, which has been seen testing.

Recently, a pair of new liquid-cooled Hero motorbikes have been sighted testing.

According to a source, the first of these is an adventure bike that will very probably bear the Xpulse brand, but will be very different from the Xpulse 400 that was sighted over a year ago.

Meanwhile, the other is a naked streetfighter that appears to be powered by the same engine, and if Hero sticks to its present naming practise, this second bike may bear the Xtreme label.

As per reports, both these bikes are powered by the 210cc engine from the new Hero Karizma XMR, but we disagree. The design of the side covers, as well as the placements of the oil inspection window and oil filter, are all different from those found on the Karizma, leading us to conclude that this engine is unique. In addition, the overall size of the engines and radiators also point to a bigger motor.

New Hero XPulse: Expected To Be Different

Reportedly, the main difference here is that previous Xpulse 400 spy images show it with an upside-down fork, but this test mule receives a regular telescopic fork. Furthermore, the previous Xpulse 400 test mule had the front brake rotor on the left side, but this new bike has the disc on the right. These variations show that this recent detection is not the same as the Xpulse 400, reports add. It also doesn’t appear to be based on the 210cc Karizma engine. It’s possible that Hero is developing a completely other engine, or that it will be a less expensive version of the Xpulse 400.

There are small changes in the forms of the engine covers between these two recent test mules as well, which might be attributed to the varied frames that the motorcycles employ. The Xpulse features a split double-cradle frame, however the streetfighter lacks a cradle element for the engine, implying that it will employ a spine or perimeter-type frame. This will result in various mounting positions, which may explain the small structural changes across the engines.

The suspension and wheels are also different between the two test mules, with the streetfighter using an upside-down fork and 17-inch wheels, while the Xpulse looks to have a 21-inch front wheel.

The Xpulse has an LED headlight, and the streetfighter should have one as well. Also, expect completely digital instruments and Bluetooth connection, similar to what Hero offers on its smaller versions. Ride-by-wire does not appear to be included, with the motorcycles having cable-operated throttles.
