New Delhi: Though Avatar Kishan Hangal was in the show business since 1966 but the one scene that made him famous was of 'Sholay'. Directed by Ramesh Sippy, the film was about a dreaded dacoit Gabbar Singh who rules the areas adjacent to Ramgarh.

One fine day, Gabbar finds that the village which always remained under his thumb, has started to raise its voice against him. He decides to teach the villagers a lesson and thus abducts a young man, who happens to be Rahim Chacha's (AK Hangal) son. The poor guy catches the attention of Gabbar's sidekicks when he was on his way to the nearest city. Gabbar kills the guy and sends his dead body to the village.

The people of Ramgarh were busy in their household chores when they discover the abandoned body of Rahim's son.

From here on, the man who steals the show is AK Hangal. His one line dialogue overshadows the presence of everyone including Hema Malini.

Rahim Chacha couldn't see so he relies on other senses. He is coming out of the mosque when he realises that everybody is in silence. Then comes the dialogue of the decade, "Itna sannata kyun hai bhai!"

The way Hangal dramatized the scene was a great example of understanding the value of silence. The drama in the scene was heightened to such a level that the spectators found it easy to cry than to see Rahim's about to happen condition.

This one scene made AK Hangal immortal in our memories. RIP the grand old man of Indian films.
