HYDERABAD: To strictly deal with issues related to unauthorised constructions and encroachments under Greater Hyderabad limits, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is seeking to have a Town Planning and Building Tribunal in a few months. After much delay, GHMC Commissioner MT Krishna Babu has written a letter to the State Government requesting immediate constitution of the tribunal. In 2006, the State Government had brought in revised building rules called Common Building Rules for corporations and other Urban Development Authorities under which the government has to constitute the town planning and building tribunal.Even five years after the common building rules came into effect, the state government has failed to constitute the tribunal much to the dismay of the GHMC, which is in no position to take effective action against unauthorised constructions as the property owners are approaching courts.
