HYDERABAD: Taking advantage of the absence of inmates, who went to the participate in the Ganesh immersion, thieves struck at two places in the city on Sunday and reportedly decamped with property worth more than Rs. 1 crore.Four flats in an apartment were burgled at Gowliguda while another flat was burgled at Abids, police said.In both cases, the inmates of the five flats went to participate in Ganesh procession.According to police, four families in Prajay Mahal apartments at Gowliguda Chaman went to the Hussainsagar to participate in the immersion procession.On returning home by evening, they found their houses burgled.The offenders also made an attempt to enter two other flats but they could not, police said.Cops said that the thieves broke into the house of stationery businessman, Jitender Jain and decamped with nearly 60-tola gold and Rs. 60,000 cash.Similarly, from the flat no 303 belonging to one Srinivasa Chary, they stole more than 30-tola gold and Rs. 24,000 cash.From flat no 304 owned by Dharmender, nearly 24-tola gold and Rs. 48,000 cash were stolen and from flat no 305 of Kundan, more than 80- tola gold ornaments, Rs. 5 lakh cash and some silver articles were said to be stolen.
