New Delhi: Fresh from her doubles title in Cincinnati last week, Sania Mirza and Shahar Peer have cruised into the second round of doubles at the $600,000 Bank of West Classic tournament at Stanford.
The Indo-Israeli pair of Sania and Peer beat Tatiana Poutchek of Belarus and Anastasia Rodionova of Russia 6-1, 0-6, 11-9 in three tight sets on Wednesday to advance to the next round.
Sania and Peer, seeded third, now face Akgul Amanmuradova of the Uzbekistan and Angalika Bachmann of Germany.
At Cincinnati, Sania had paired with Bethanie Mattek.
She had won her first round singles match against Akiko Morigami of Japan on Monday in a three-hour marathon and plays Tatiana Golovin of France in the second round on Thursday night.
