Pak's not supporting terrorism: UK
The British government has made a controversial new claim that Pakistan is not supporting terrorism any more.

London: The Pakistani government has been projecting to the world that it is now sincere and effective in fighting terrorism. And it has succeeded in convincing many Western governments.

"There is no doubt in my mind that the Musharraf government is no longer supporting any groups,” says Director-General, Foreign Office, UK, Sir Mark Lyall Grant.

The British are now taking the line of the Pakistani government. A Pakistani minister made a similar claim to CNN-IBN at a meeting in London.

"We have been fighting terrorism and we keep on doing that. I think there is a lot of appreciation from all over the world,” says Interior Minister, Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao.

But Benazir Bhutto sings a different tune in her updated autobiography published this month.

The former Pakistani Prime Minister says that - dangerous political madrassas flourish and grow under the current Pakistan military dictatorship and militant groups like LeT conduct recruitment and training of militants.

She adds that if the West continues to coddle military rulers in Pakistan who suppress liberty, a successor generation of terrorists will come after the Taliban and al-Qaeda.

So while the British seem convinced that Pakistan is fighting, and not fermenting terrorism, some of Pakistan's own leaders are not so sure.
