Los Angeles: Actor-martial artist Jean-Claude Van Damme, who is known for his action in 1989 film 'Kickboxer', is in final negotiations to return for its
remake.
John Stockwell will be directing the movie. It will feature 'Guardians of the Galaxy' star Dave Bautista and 'X Men: Days of Futue Past' actor Alain Moussi, said The Hollywood Reporter.
Van Damme, 54, will be seen in a new version, as this time he is not the student but he will be playing the role of Master Chow. He is apparently replacing Thai action star Tony Jaa, who is not a part of the movie due to his busy schedule.
Alan Moussi is playing the character of Kurt Sloan, a talented martial artist who travels to Thailand to learn the art of kickboxing where he meets Master Chow (Damme).
He wants to avenge the death of his brother who was killed by Tong Po,
which is played by Dave Bautista. Ted Field is producing the movie with Dimitri Logothetis and Nick Celozzi.
"We are so excited to have Kickboxer roll into production and to have JCVD in the role of Master Chow, passing the torch to Alain, to have him lead the franchise to a new generation," said Ted Field of Radar Films said.
The script of the movie is written by Dimitri Logothetis and Jim Mcgrath. The shooting of the movie will start this week in New Orleans and they will also shoot in Thailand.
