MANGALORE: During interrogation on December 8, 2005, the accused Mohan Kumar had confessed to luring the women for gold, testified the witness sub inspector of police C M Thimma Shetty at the Fast Track court here on Thursday. Deposing before the court, he said Mohan Kumar was caught red handed by locals when he was seen with an unmarried woman, aged around 25. But the accused introduced himself as Bhaskar from Vittal and the woman introduced Mohan as a friend of her brother. During interrogation he confessed to luring the women for gold and also revealed two such cases which occurred before the incident. Disclosing two more crimes committed by Mohan Kumar, he testified that, Kumar confessed during interrogation that he had lured another woman in the Beltangady police limits, in which he had tried to push her into the Nethravathi river after taking all her gold ornaments. He confessed of taking away all the ornaments of a woman in Mangalore after making her unconscious, he testified. During cross examination, the accused sought to know whether the complainant mentions details of gold ornaments of Leelavathi before leaving her home. Thimma Shetty said, the complainant did not mention such details.
