SANGAREDDY: AntiCorruption Bureau (ACB) circle inspector Somnarayan Singh reportedly attempted suicide by consuming pesticide at his house in Gangaram village on Hyderabad outskirts following allegations that he was helping out liquor traders and corrupt officials by leaking the details pertaining to ACB cases. However, Singh denied attempting suicide and said he got admitted to hospital due to food poisoning.
According to sources, Somnarayan Singh who worked in the police department in Medak district got deputed to the ACB department, a couple of years ago. Since Wednesday evening, television channels started flashing news that the stage is set for the suspension of Singh who allegedly helped several liquor traders to get rid of key documents with regard to their transactions by leaking to them the information of impending ACB raids. Depressed over this, he is learnt to have attempted suicide. He was rushed to a hospital at Miyapur, where he is undergoing treatment.Singh urged the media not spread rumours about him. He said he had already requested DGP V Dinesh Reddy to relieve him from the ACB post and take him back to his home department.
