In the ever-evolving landscape of weddings, couples often challenge traditional customs and rituals deemed outdated by many. Such instances breathe new life into age-old traditions, breaking stereotypes along the way. A recent standout example where a groom did something unexpected: he asked his bride to put sindoor on his forehead. Usually, it’s the other way around, with the groom applying sindoor on the bride’s forehead.
The heart-touching video was shared on the social media platform Instagram by the renowned platform ‘Humans of Bombay.’ This handle also shared Kush Rathor’s journey from a chance encounter at the gym to a joyous wedding ceremony with his beloved Kasak Gupta.

Kush Rathor, a fitness coach, fondly recalls the moment he first laid eyes on Kasak through the window of a juice shop. Kush was a little hesitant to approach her, feeling she was “out of his league.”
In 2013, Kush discovered Kasak was his senior at college in Bangalore. He tried to strike up a conversation with her. Despite his clumsy opening, their friendship blossomed. After initially facing rejection, Kush and Kasak deepened their bond over time, overcoming family reservations to eventually marrying in December 2022.
During their wedding ceremony, Kush applied sindoor on Kasak’s forehead, expressing his desire for her to reciprocate the gesture. Kush was surprised when the moment went viral on social media as he considered it the “bare minimum” in expressing love. “I couldn’t understand why. I mean that was the bare minimum, right? And when you’re in love with someone, you’ll do anything to make their heart smile & eyes shine, haina?” Kush said.
The clip quickly went viral online, captivating viewers who couldn’t get enough of the heartfelt gesture. Messages of congratulations flooded in, with one user praising Kush’s courage for making such a bold move in front of their families. “This is the best reel I have seen lately. It needs a courage of real man to do it in front of whole family. Bravo,” one user commented while other wrote, “So beautiful!! It feels unreal to see guys like these exist!”
Others found inspiration in the couple’s love story, with one user expressing, “When I read these stories I understand that true love do exist.” Another commenter echoed Kush’s sentiment, agreeing that while the gesture may seem like the “bare minimum,” it’s also “rare” in today’s world.
