Groom And His Relatives Thrash Bride’s Family For No-Fish Menu, Internet Shocked

All eyes have been on Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s grand wedding with who’s who of the world in attendance to shower blessings on the couple. But now, another wedding ceremony has grabbed quite a lot of attention. Contrary to the uber-lavish ceremonies, the wedding in concern is in the news for all the wrong reasons. Leaving many shocked, the bizarre incident saw the groom and his relatives thrashing the bride’s family. Why? The no-fish and meat menu.

The bizarre incident occurred on July 11 at Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria where the groom, identified as Abhishek Sharma, arrived to tie the knot with Sushma. Everything went as planned, including the Varmala ceremony. However, what was expected to be a delightful occasion for both families, resulted in an incident that left many fuming with anger.

After the groom discovered that the bride’s family had arranged a vegetarian menu for the guests, his relatives started demanding fish and meat, leading to a verbal spat. As the matter intensified, a fight broke out between the two sides, prompting the groom’s relatives to beat the bride’s family with sticks. After the ruckus, the wedding was called off with the groom leaving the venue. Later, the bride’s family also accused the groom of taking a dowry of Rs 5 lakh.

In a police complaint as reported by India Today, the bride’s father said, “The groom, his father Surendra Sharma, and others began using abusive language regarding the lack of non-vegetarian food. When I objected, Abhishek Sharma, Surendra Sharma, Rampravesh Sharma, Rajkumar and some unknown people started beating my family with sticks and kicked and punched us.”

The bride’s mother said, “After the vermala (exchange of wedding garlands), the groom asked what food was prepared, to which the girl replied that simple food was made. At this, the groom said, “Why isn’t there fish?” and slapped the girl. They (the groom’s side) also slapped me and my husband. 10 people from the groom’s side thrashed us and injured our family members.”
