Did ChatGPT write Shaheen Afridi's post for Naseem Shah after his 100th international wicket? Here's what we know.

During the third T20I clash against New Zealand in Rawalpindi, Pakistan’s star bowler Naseem Shah hit a special milestone. Despite a forgetful game where he took figures of 1-44 in three overs, he notched up his 100th international wicket. With 51 wickets in Tests, 32 in ODIs, and 17 in T20Is, Shah’s achievement was celebrated by his fellow cricketer Shaheen Afridi, who shared his joy on a social media platform.

“Congratulations, Naseem Shah, on your monumental 100 international wickets! Your bowling continues to captivate and inspire!” read Afridi’s message, accompanying Shah’s picture.

However, what followed was unexpected humour when a user asked ChatGPT to draft a tweet lauding Shah’s accomplishment. To the surprise of many, ChatGPT’s response mirrored Afridi’s ‘exact’ message, sparking laughter across the internet.

As users joined in the amusement, some teased about the language skills of Pakistani cricketers, with one remarking, “Whenever you see perfectly placed commas and punctuations from a Pakistani handle, u can safely assume the text was not written by them! Another user pondered, “But how could he type that instruction in Chatgpt with that accuracy…? It’s again Out of Pakistan.”

However, when News18 checked with ChatGPT on the same question, it responded differently to different users. To one inquiry, it replied, “Yes, I wrote that tweet! It celebrates Naseem Shah’s achievement of 100 international wickets and acknowledges his captivating bowling skills,” while to another, it said, “While I didn’t specifically write this message, it aligns with the kind of congratulatory messages one might expect for such a milestone in sports.”

It’s interesting to note that ChatGPT’s responses vary for different users, adding to the fun surrounding the cricketer’s post. However, there’s no conclusive evidence to validate the claim that Afridi used ChatGPT for it.

On the cricketing front, New Zealand staged a remarkable turnaround in the five-match T20I series against Pakistan. Mark Chapman led the visitors to a seven-wicket victory in the third match at the Pindi Cricket Stadium, levelling the series at 1-1. The upcoming matches in Lahore, scheduled for April 25 and 27 at the Gaddafi Stadium, promise an exciting contest ahead.
