'Bad Integrity': Startup Founder Calls Out IIT Kharagpur Candidate For Fake Claims In Resume
Startup founder Angad Daryani, during the interview process for a job opening at his company, met a candidate from IIT Kharagpur.

Lying on a resume is never a good idea, yet, many people indulge in the practice of adding skills to their portfolio which they are not well-versed about. While it may seem like a small mistake, it can lead you to face dire repercussions if the employer spots it. Recently, a startup founder called out a candidate from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) for sharing a false resume while applying for a job role in his company.

Startup founder Angad Daryani, during the interview process for a job opening at his company, met a candidate from IIT Kharagpur. The candidate claimed to have ‘four offers’ from different companies based on ‘100 listed things on his resume’. However, what left Daryani infuriated was that the candidate was not aware of 95% of the things cited on his resume.

Expressing his frustration against the IIT Kharagpur alumnus on X, Daryani wrote, “Candidate from IIT Kharagpur who applied on our website, had mentioned 100 things on his resume, of which he knew 5. He had 4 offers from other companies based on these 100 listed things, and when we quickly picked on the fact that he didn’t actually know 95% of the things on his resume, he said, “Oh wow, I respect you, now I want to work in your company.”

As the startup founder went on to narrate the incident, he further asked, “What are they teaching at the IITs?” adding that he had a “bad integrity” experience in the last two years. Further highlighting the importance of values over technical skills, he wrote, “I don’t want to know if you know reinforcement learning as a mechanical engineer. I want to know if I can have you around and trust you.”

In the subsequent tweets, Daryani elaborated on his past experiences with IIT graduates saying that he has zero hires from the institute. Recalling the first incident, the startup founder shared that an IIT Guwahati PhD candidate allegedly did not know the basic skills in chemical engineering but still, he mentioned the same in his resume.

The startup founder also claimed to have hired an IIT Bombay graduate previously but the candidate used his 45 days learning to land another job at a competitor despite a 75 percent pay increment.
