Sonia forces redraft of food security bill
UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi is clearly having her way on the Food Security Bill.

New Delhi: In what's a clear indication that UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi is having her way on the Food Security Bill, the empowered group of ministers, led by Pranab Mukherjee, will be revisiting the draft Food Security Bill on Monday.

Sources say the Bill may go to the National Advisory Council and the final nod may be taken by the Union Cabinet.

The EGOM had cleared Bill on March 18. But Sonia's suggestions were not incorporated as EGOM had cleared 25 kg of food grain as against Sonia's 35 kg.

It also gave the nod for BPL families to be included as beneficiaries. Sonia wanted APL to be included in the Panel's poverty figures.

What's your reaction?
