New Delhi: Union Agriculture Ministry may be divided with sources telling CNN-IBN that the Congress is keen to take Consumer Affairs away from Sharad Pawar.
Pawar has been under attack from the Congress and Opposition parties for being unable to check rising prices.
There is already an existing Administrative Reforms Commission headed by Veerappa Moily with a proposal to bifurcate key ministries including agriculture.
But Pawar refused to take blame on the price rise issue. He hit back saying the Prime Minister and rest of the Cabinet are equally responsible for controlling prices.
"The Prime Minister and others, all of us take decision together on the policies. No one decides by himself. There is an expert committee, it gives guideline. My Ministry forwards those guidelines in the Cabinet and the whole Cabinet decides on it. All of us together decide on it. All of us are partners in taking decisions," said Pawar
The proposal is also likely to strain relations between the Congress and Pawar's party the Nationalist Congress Party.
