Oppn set to target PC, Krishna in Parliament
The UPA came all out in defence P Chidambaram over allegations on him in connection with the 2G spectrum allocation scam.

New Delhi: A stormy day is expected in Parliament on Monday as Opposition parties gear up to target Home Minister P Chidambaram in connection with the 2G case. They are also expected to train their guns on Foreign Affairs Minister SM Krishna, seeking his resignation after an FIR was filed against him in an illegal mining case in Karnataka.

The two houses on Thursday were rocked by anti-Chidambaram protests triggered by a special court order allowing Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy to depose on his plea that the home minister be questioned in connection with the 2G case.

The UPA government on Saturday came all out in defence of Union Home Minister P Chidambaram over allegations on him in connection with the 2G spectrum allocation scam.

Union Minister Kapil Sibal said that Chidambaram discharged his duties as then Finance Minister with absolute integrity, adding that the NDA was making attempts to malign him.

But the BJP on Saturday dismissed government's contention that P Chidambaram as Finance Minister had no hand in the 2G scam and demanded that his role be properly investigated in the case.

"What the BJP is demanding is determining Chidambaram's role as then Finance Minister in the spectrum scam," BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said.

A FIR was filed in relation to private complaint filed against them by one TJ Abraham in the Karnataka Lokayukta court.

Krishna later issued a statement saying, "There is no indictment of me anywhere in the Lokayukta report. The fact that Justice Santosh Hegde has gone on record in public only further confirms this. There has been no de-reservation of forests as being incorrectly reported. I wish to point out that I never retained the portfolio of mines and geology. Further to the best of my knowledge no mining licence issued during my tenure. Even if such licences were issued this would have been done by the competent authority of the mines and geology department. In view of the above there is no wrongful loss to the government, consequently there can be no wrongful gain."
