Police say initial investigations show that the arrested man is not linked to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.

New Delhi: The Delhi Police Special Cell on Wednesday arrested one person for allegedly sending a threatening SMS to Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor.

The arrested person has been identified as Manik Verma and police officials say that initial investigations show that he is not linked to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. Verma was arrested after the police traced the SMS to Hari Nagar in West Delhi.

Tharoor's OSD Jacob Joseph had on Wednesday morning claimed that the Minister received a death threat from the Dawood's gang. The threat SMS reportedly warned Tharoor to stay clear of Indian Premier League Chairman Lalit Modi.

Joseph said that Union Home Ministry had been informed about the SMS threat to minister.

Tharoor has been involved in a bitter war of words with Modi over the ownership of Kochi team in the IPL.
