Patna: NCP released its Bihar election manifesto after the end of the second phase of polling pledging to accord industry status to agriculture and take measures to make farming sustainable and profitable.
Measures to be taken include development of infrastructure, loan for farmers and setting up of agro-based industries for maximising farm output and pricing for the farmers, NCP general secretary Tariq Anwar told reporters after releasing the election manifesto.
NCP would also execute about 800 small to medium irrigation projects and re-charge about 5,500 tubewells for irrigation of farmland, he said.
The manifesto also pledged to undertake poverty alleviation and rural development programmes by committing to make additional funds available for the purpose.
With unemployment and migration being a matter of concern in the state, Anwar said the party proposed to bring in investment to set up new industrial units as well as revive sick sugar mills.
