Kejriwal demeaning CM post, should not he be welcoming the CBI raid: BJP leader Nalin Kohli

The Bharatiya Janata Party has reacted strongly to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raid at the office of a senior bureaucrat inside the Delhi Secretariat.

BJP National Spokesperson Nalin Kohli spoke to IBNLive on the raid and the politics around it. His comment is below:

As Union Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley made it clear in Parliament, the raid on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s office has nothing to do with Kejriwal’s tenue as Chief Minister or something to do with him. It was based on a complaint filed by another bureaucrat against Rajender Kumar, an IAS officer who is currently the Principal Secretary to Kejriwal. It is wrong to say that the CBI raided Kejriwal’s office. The CBI does not work under the government. It is an autonomous institution. They don’t report to the Centre. They act on their own.

The allegations against Kejriwal’s Principal Secretary are in the public domain. Everybody knows what they are. Before blaming the Centre for the raid, Kejriwal must study all these things. The statements he made and the response tweets by him are immature and beneath his dignity. In a tweet, he has called the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi a coward and psychopath.

What kind of language is this? Is this a public discourse? Does not he know how to address a superior Constitutional Authority like the Prime Minister of India? The Chief Minister of Delhi himself is a Constitutional Authority. The Prime Minister is a superior Constitutional authority. Is this the way one Constitutional authority addresses the superior Constitutional authority the Prime Minister of India? It is really cheap, below the dignity of the post of a chief minister and highly condemnable.

One day Mr. Kejriwal calls the Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi a kid, the very next day he calls the Prime Minister like this? What kind of a chief minister Mr. Kejriwal is? When faced with the facts, he plays victim to gain sympathy and mislead the people.

What does Kejriwal think of himself? Should not he be welcoming the raid because he came to power on anti corruption platform? Why is he so nervous now? Everyday Mr. Kejriwal makes new allegations. I mean every day. What kind of advance notice is required for a raid on an officer facing corruption charges? Who gives advance notice for a raid? No prior permission is required for a raid. Does not Kejriwal know even these basic things? If he does not now, then he should talk. When it comes to prosecution, the permission is needed. That too from the cadre controlling authority.

By making baseless, wild allegations Kejriwal is demeaning his office, his authority and the high chair he occupies. The CBI is not a novice agency. The CBI owes no explanation to him.
