New Delhi: BJP MLAs on Sunday met the Lt Governor of Delhi, Najeeb Jung, seeking grant of No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to unauthorised colonies on DDA land for expedition of development work in these colonies. The MLAs who were led by Vijay Kumar Malhotra, Leader of the Opposition in Legislative Assembly, raised before the Lt Governor the issue of non-implementation of Delhi Jal Board's (DJB) "amnesty scheme" in DDA colonies, a party release said.
Under the DJB's amnesty scheme, the civic body has condoned 100 per cent late payment surcharge and has even given 30 per cent rebate to those paying outstanding amounts. "These concessions are not being given to DDA colonies," the release said.
The BJP MLAs demanded that the DJB's amnesty scheme be immediately implemented in DDA colonies as "there is strong resentment among the people living in those areas". They also raised the issue of "no clear cut decision regarding upkeep and maintenance of boundary walls and common areas in the Group Housing Societies falling under the purview of DDA", the release said, adding that urgent action in this regard has been demanded.
The MLAs also informed Jung about the need for maintenance of convenience and local shopping centres constructed by DDA and requested that the authority be asked to immediately
take up repair work of such constructions, the release said.
