CBI chief promises unbiased enquiry into cases
Singh promised action on Aarushi murder case within 60 days-either a chargesheet would be filed or a closure report.

New Delhi: AP Singh, the new director of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), on Tuesday said that his officers work impartially and he would strive to maintain the credibility of the investigating agency.

The former additional Director General of BSF and a recipient of Indian Police Medal and President's Police Medal, asserted he would try his best to hold unbiased enquiry into cases under CBI.

Singh will be heading the premier investigating agency when it is investigating several politically significant scams.

Singh claimed most of the investigations these days are court monitored and thus he would attempt to address the concerns raised by the courts on investigations carried out by CBI.

He also promised action on the Aarushi murder case within 60 days. The agency would take a decision on whether a chargesheet would be filed or a closure report.

Action would be taken and stature of people would not hinder the case if any evidence came to the agency, he said.

The IPS officer was on Tuesday appointed the new Director of the CBI for two years succeeding Ashwani Kumar. The Appointments' Committee of the Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh cleared the name of 58-year-old Singh, a 1974 batch IPS officer of Jharkhand cadre, for the post of the new chief of the elite investigating agency.
