Hyderabad: Stepping up the ante against former ally Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Andhra Pradesh, a delegation from the BJP met the Governor in Hyderabad on Thursday, demanding action against TDP leaders for using “un-Parliamentary and derogatory language” against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking to News18, newly appointed state BJP chief Kanna Lakshminarayana said, "MPs, MLAs, ministers - everyone is abusing the PM using filthy language. They are responsible elected members. We are demanding action against all those who have used bad language, including minister Akhila Priya."
"There is undemocratic rule and a very dangerous situation prevailing in the state. Government officers are working like TDP karyakartas. The police stations have become TDP offices,” Lakshminarayana added.
With less than a year to go for Assembly elections, the BJP is going all out to unseat the TDP, with which it was in alliance until Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu severed ties over the delay in announcing special status for Andhra Pradesh.
"The campaign ‘Intintiki BJP’ aims to inform people about the facts and counter the malicious campaign of Chandrababu Naidu government against the BJP and PM Modi. The ruling TDP has failed and is spreading lies. The Centre is committed to the development of Andhra Pradesh. In last four years, 85 percent promises have been fulfilled. Our party will go to every house, distribute pamphlets and tell them of the welfare and development work done by BJP," Lakshminarayana said.
The ruling TDP has alleged that the BJP was resorting to conspiracy politics by “colluding” with the YSR Congress and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan. Interestingly, the state unit of the saffron party did not rule out any alliance. "This is not in my hands. The leadership — Amit Shah and Narendra Modi — will take the decision. There is one year to go for elections,” Lakshminarayana said.
