'This Can be The Last World Cup for Rohit Sharma': Team India Captain's Boyhood Coach Dinesh Lad
Dinesh Lad pointed out that Rohit is 36 years old as he will be 40 and it's highly unlikely for players to play professional cricket at that age.

Rohit Sharma’s childhood coach Dinesh Lad feels that the ongoing ODI World Cup could be the last for the swashbuckling opener. Rohit has been in terrific form this World Cup and scored 503 runs in 9 matches at a staggering strike rate of 121.50. The premier batter has led the team from the front in the league stage as India finished at the top of the table as they were only beaten side with 9 wins in as many matches. His aggressive batting in the powerplays made things a bit easier for the other batters as they got some time to get used to the conditions.

Dinesh Lad pointed out that Rohit is 36 years old as he will be 40 and it’s highly unlikely for players to play professional cricket at that age.

“There are chances that this can be the last World Cup for Rohit Sharma. He is 36 years old and in the next 4 years, he will be 40. Usually, Indian cricketers don’t play at that age. He wants to win the World Cup for the country…” Lad said.

Rohit has been leading the Indian team for the first time in the ODI World Cup as in the last two tournaments – 2015 – he played as a pure batter and in 2019 – he was Virat Kohli’s deputy.

India will face New Zealand in the semi-final of the World Cup as it is going to be a re-match of the 2019 edition semifinal where the Men in Blue suffered a heartbreaking defeat in Manchester.

India have already beaten New Zealand in the league stage but there will be some added pressure on them when the two teams face each other on November 15 at Wankhede Stadium.

Rohit’s coach Lad also talked about Virat Kohli and said he has a good chance of scoring his 50th ODI ton in the WC considering he is in sublime form.

“The way Virat Kohli is playing, there are chances that he can hit his 50th ODI century…” he added.
