Indian opener Shubman Gill produced a brilliant 92-run knock against Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday in the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup.
He received solid support from the other end in the form of former Indian captain Virat Kohli, who also notched up a splendid 88-run innings, as the duo put up an 189-run stand for the second wicket.

In a light-hearted moment between the two Indian batters, Kohli took a jab at Gill’s stomach as the 24-year-old exaggerated the impact of the blow in a jovial manner before the batsmen bumped their fists and got back to the crease.

The pair decimated the Sri Lankan bowling attack as they took the bowlers to the cleaners on multiple occasions in an entertaining partnership.
The duo complimented each other well at the crease and took the game away from Sri Lanka in the blink of an eye, despite the early wicket of Indian skipper Rohit Sharma.
Both batsmen looked primed for a ton, however, both the players, fondly referred to as the ‘King’ and ‘Prince’ of Indian cricket fell short of the triple-digit landmark.
Gill came up with a lovely innings after having recovered from health issues as he was down with dengue during the opening phases of the tournament.
Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to put India in to bat first in the group stage encounter as Dilshan Madhushanka scalped the prized wicket of team India skipper Rohit Sharma in the second ball of the match.
However, Gill and Kohli steadied the ship and navigated their way in stunning attacking fashion to put India in a commanding position.
Madhushanka, who got rid of the Indian skipper to get the match underway also picked up the wickets of Kohli and Gill before they could reach their landmark 100-mark. The Sri Lankan bowler also went on to pick the scalp of Suryakumar Yadav later in the innings adding to his wicket tally.
