Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan's Kedarnath is facing tough competition from Rajinikanth's film 2.0.

After opening to average box-office earning, Abhishek Kapoor's Kedarnath has put up a decent total in its first weekend. The film, starring Sushant Singh Rajput and debutante Sara Ali Khan, collected Rs 10.75 crore on Sunday. The first weekend box office collection of the film stands at Rs 27.75 crore.

The film, set against the backdrop of the natural tragedy in the temple town of Kedarnath, is a love story of a Hindu girl (played by Sara) and a Muslim porter (Sushant).

Tweeting the latest box office figures, film trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote: "#Kedarnath has a good weekend, witnessing substantial growth on Day 2 [34.48%], but limited growth on Day 3 [10.26%]... Sustaining well from Mon to Thu is pivotal... Fri 7.25 cr, Sat 9.75 cr, Sun 10.75 cr. Total: ₹ 27.75 cr. India biz." (sic)

On day one, Kedarnath managed its collections in the 7-7.25 crore nett range, reported Box Office India. The film is facing tough competition from Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar's film 2.0, which raked in Rs 12 crore on Sunday, taking the total collections of its Hindi version to Rs 166.75 crore.

Adarsh tweeted: "#2Point0 put up a super-strong total in Weekend 2... Growth on second Sat [56.41%] and second Sun [31.15%] help put up an impressive total... [Week 2] Fri 5.85 cr, Sat 9.15 cr, Sun 12 cr. Total: ₹ 166.75 cr. India biz. Note: HINDI version." (sic)

Released on November 29, 2.0 has also beat the lifetime box-office business of Thugs of Hindostan, which starred Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Fatima Sana Sheikh and Katrina Kaif in key roles.

Apart from that, it has become the second highest grossing Hindi dubbed film by surpassing the lifetime business of S S Rajamouli's Baahubali: The Beginning. It is also Rajnikanth’s highest earning Hindi film.

2.0 become the highest opener of 2018 by collecting Rs 73.5 crore (all versions) on the opening day and earned Rs 25 crore (Hindi) on Saturday. With an average opening in Hindi version, the film subsequently picked up its collection on the third day of its release.
