This year, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences was forced to delay the highly anticipated Oscars ceremony owing to the pandemic. Usually held in the month of February, the event has been postponed to April for this year. The nominations for the 93rd annual Academy Awards will be revealed on March 15, Monday at 12:19 GMT. The 2021 awards season has thrown surprises aplenty, but it's finally here and the world cannot wait to know the contenders who have made it to the much-coveted list.

When will the nominations be revealed?
The first part of the nominations will be unveiled at 8:19 am ET (5:49 pm IST), in nine categories. The second and the final list which includes 14 categories will be revealed at 8:31 am ET (6:01 pm IST).

The announcement will be conducted via two-part live stream presentation on Oscars.com, Oscars.org alongside real-time updates across the Academy’s digital platforms – Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

Actress-producer Priyanka Chopra and her husband Nick Jonas will declare the nominees across 23 categories.
Who are the frontrunners?
-The 93rd Academy Award nominations are likely to be dominated by five films namely Chloe Zhao's Nomadland, David Fincher's Mank, Aaron Sorkin’s The Trial of the Chicago 7, Steven Yeun-starrer Minari, and Emerald Fennell’s Promising Young Woman.
-The Hollywood Reporter predicts that late actor Chadwick Boseman will surely be a strong contender for Best Actor in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. Frances McDormand also might find a spot as a second Best Actress nod for Nomadland. IndieWire foretells Regina King, who could be in the Best Director category in her directorial debut titled One Night in Miami, will be the first Black woman director in the bracket.
-Soul is expected to secure a nod in the Animated Feature category alongside Wolfwalkers, Over the Moon, Croods: The New Age, and Onward.
-As per The New York Times, actors of colour are likely to rule 2021's nominations since active petitioning against a mostly white-dominated Oscars. Riz Ahmed (Sound of Metal), Leslie Odom Jr (One Night in Miami) and Daniel Kaluuya (Judas and the Black Messiah) may be contenders for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor categories.
