Controversial reality show 'Bigg Boss' has so far never disappointed its loyal fans, as there has always been some ingredient to hold the interest of the voyeuristic audience. Contestants inside the house, in all these years, mastered the art of pulling-off cheap gimmicks and antics, which unfortunately helped in grabbing the eyeballs.
Double Trouble-season 9, which comes to an end today, sadly was an exception. This was the season which was rightly dubbed as the ‘most boring season’ by the audience as well as the show anchor Salman Khan, at one point of time.
Z-lister celebrities Rakhi Sawant, Rahul Mahajan, Veena Mallik, Dolly Bindra, Kamal R Khan, Sunny Leone to Gauhar Khan made the most of their stay inside the house, in the previous seasons. Most of them went on to become known faces after the show as they tried choicest of low brow tricks to keep the audience glued to the screen.
The latest season somehow missed out on that mandatory spicy ingredient which the controversial reality show has always been famous for. Though the theme was double trouble, but most of us had no trouble in giving it a miss.
Lets take a look at the new tricks adopted by the contestants which failed to create a buzz:
Aman Varma’s sanitized side: Actor Aman Varma, who was infamous for the scandal related to casting couch disappointed the audience as he emerged as the quintessential good boy. Since the audience expected bizarre drama from the contestants, it was disappointing to see Aman. He was referred as ‘naughty boy’ by Salman but he behaved as a grand uncle on the show.
Foul-mouthed Kishwer Merchantt: Kishwer was one of the most promising contestants right from the word go. She had the right mix of brashness, brazenness and uncouth mannerism which is a must for anyone entering Bigg Boss house. She did manage to pull the drama with her unpredictable behavior, however, towards the end she decided to walk out of the show with a chunk sum.
Priya Malik’s disgusting Big Brother tricks: Priya Malik, former contestant of 'Big Brother Australia', started off on a volatile note when she entered the house. Bickering about her Indian origin, she tried to pull off a fake ‘racism’ drama, which could not hold the audience interest. Her ‘peeing’ while in a task was one of the most disgusting acts, to say the least.
Rimi Sen’s reluctance trick: 'Golmaal-Fun Unlimited' actress Rimi Sen was touted as the biggest star attraction this season, but, she tried a different trick by completely ‘switching off’ from the show. Instead of indulging in any low-brow act, she tried to stay aloof and disinterested. Her trick helped her to some extent but finally Rimi was shown the door.
Mandana Karimi as the only drama queen: Iranian model Mandana Karimi became a hit instantly as the one and only drama queen of the season. But, it was unlike season 7, which had Gauahar Khan who had a tough competition from Tanisha to hold the audience interest. Mandana needed a few more beautiful wannabe contestants to keep the tempo of the show, but it wasn’t to be.
