Mumbai: The release of Shah Rukh-Mahira Khan film Raees in faces uncertainty as Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) sticks to its 'anti-Pakistani artists' stand.

Several minutes after Shah Rukh called on MNS chief Raj Thackeray at his residence in Mumbai on Sunday, Thackeray said, "Although it was clarified during the meeting with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis that no Pakistani artist or technician will be taken in any of the upcoming Bollywood movies. He (Shah Rukh) had come to inform me that rumours about Mahira Khan promoting Raees are false. He specifically came to clarify Mahira will not be a part of the promotions in India."

Earlier, Raees producer Ritesh Sidhwani had come out in strong support of the Pakistani actor. Sidhwani said if need be, the actor would be invited to India to promote the movie as there is no governmental restriction on Pakistani actors to enter India.

Thirty one-year-old Mahira Khan, who hails from Pakistan's Karachi, is the female lead in Raees.

Raees and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil had landed themselves in soup after the Raj Thackeray-led MNS called for a ban of all films featuring Pakistani actors post the Uri attack.

Earlier, it was reported that Mahira will secretly join Shah Rukh Khan in Dubai to complete the shooting of two songs.
