Both Monsoon Shootout and Fukrey 2 on Tuesday were preponed to December 8 after Padmavati makers voluntarily deferred the film release date from December 8.
Ritesh Sidhwani of Excel Entertainment, who headlines the production banner for Fukrey 2, said, "It was always meant to be December 8. Even our teaser said 8th. But we moved up as Padmavati was shifted to December 1 and we needed a 2-week gap. Now that there is no movie on December 1 we are going back to our original plan."
While a source close to the makers of Monsoon Shooutout says, "The film's content is strong and the makers are certain if they get a longer period at the box office, it will help them benefit from it before another major release comes by."
Fukrey 2, a sequel of the 2013 hit-film Fukrey, stars Richa Chadha, Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Manjot Singh and Ali Fazal in key roles. While Monsoon Shootout features Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Tannishtha Chatterjee and Neeraj Kabi in key roles.
