Dhanush's 'Visaranai' based on book written by an auto-driver

Chennai: Filmmaker Vetrimaaran's hard-hitting drama 'Visaranai', which will soon become the first Tamil movie to be premiered at the Venice International Film Festival, is reportedly based on a book titled 'Lock Up'.

Written by Coimbatore-based auto driver Chandrakumar, the book highlights how cops arrest people and torture them till they take the blame for the crime in question.

"In this book 'Lock Up', I have tried to record my experiences in what happened in that 8 X 10 feet room. I was beaten up for 13 days. It is not a day to day basis but a minute by minute recording of what I was subjected to" said Chandrakumar.
