Actress Sakshi Malik Files Defamation Suit Against Nani Starrer V, Amazon Prime Takes Film Down
Sakshi Malik has accused the makers of Telugu film V of using a portfolio picture of hers was used without her permission.

Actress Sakshi Malik has filed a defamation suit against the makers of the movie V, starring Nani and Sudheer Babu, accusing the makers of using her pictures without permission. Sakshi sought the deletion of the scene where a portfolio picture of hers was used without her permission. The Bombay High Court has ordered that the film be restrained until the scene in question is deleted, following which Amazon Prime Video removed the film from their platform.

The thriller released on September 5, 2020 and has been removed from the OTT platform following the court’s order. The court had asked the makers of the film, Venkateshwara Creations Private Limited to take down the film in all versions, irrespective of language and sub-titles until the said deletion, reported Livelaw.

Sakshi accused Venkateshwara Creations of using the picture in the movie to depict a commercial sex worker. Her counsel, Alankar Kirpekar and Saveena T Bedi, argued that the actions by the filmmakers resulted in an unauthorised invasion of privacy. The judge said, “The fact that the image has been illicitly used is bad enough. It only makes matters worse when used in a plainly derogatory and demeaning vein.”

Following the court order, Sakshi Malik took to Instagram to thank everyone for their support.

V, which featured Nani, Sudheer Babu, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Nivetha Thomas in the lead roles, was released on Amazon Prime Video on September 5, 2020. The project later had a theatrical release on January 1, 2021.
