Tourist destinations in the Nilgiris are often heavily visited by tourists. The Tea Park in Ooty is the ideal destination for travellers who want a peaceful environment away from the crowds. Most of the tourists are not aware of this tea garden, so the tourist arrival is less here. The garden is located about two kilometres from the Doddabetta divisional area on the Udhagai – Kotagiri road.
Only a few tourists know about this park. Located in a peaceful environment, this park is a great place for children to play and has a variety of equipment. The park charges Rs 20 per adult, Rs 10 per child, Rs 15 per two-wheeler, Rs 40 per four-wheeler, Rs 70 per maxicab, Rs 100 per bus, and Rs 100 for photo shoots.
Tourists who come to this tea garden full of beauty and tranquillity, enjoy patiently strolling around with their families and friends. This tea park was started on June 16, 2015. A 4-acre park has been set up in this area, which has an area of about 10 acres.
Tea plantations surrounding the park are harvested and green tea is made. Tourists eagerly purchase and consume the green tea provided here. The park also sells ornamental plants.
Apart from that, tree plants, herb plants, hanging pots, potted plants, ornamental plants, flower seeds and vermicompost are also sold here. Tourists enjoy taking photos with enthusiasm in the tea gardens. Various plants are produced and sold in the nurseries here.
A tourist said, “I visited here last year also. I bought an ornamental plant from here and the plant is growing well now. Also this time I am going to buy other plants and fertilizers. This peaceful place is a joy to visit.”
