BANGALORE: The High Court on Tuesday issued notices to Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda and others in a petition seeking action against them for constructing a building by allegedly violating building bylaws.Hearing a petition filed by one K G Nagalakshmi Bai, who had moved the High Court seeking criminal action against the Chief Minister, a division bench comprising Justices D V Shylendra Kumar and H S Kempanna ordered notices to the chief minister, chief secretary, principal secretary of Urban Development Department, commissioners of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and Bangalore Development Authority and the City Police Commissioner.Nagalakshmi Bai had stated in her petition that the CM, who was allotted 24.84 guntas of land at Nelagunte village, had approached the BDA seeking permission to amalgamate the site adjacent to his allotted site, which was rejected and communicated to him on Sept 24, 2009.Despite this, he constructed a shopping complex against the BDA rules.She had also submitted that the Chief Minister further violated BDA norms by constructing a five-storeyed building, when regulations stipulate that residential sites cannot have constructions more than two floors. Nagalakshmi Bai had further submitted that amalgamation of sites is not permitted even if the property belongs to close relatives and can be done only if the two sites were owned by the same person.
