Trinamool Congress MP Derek O'Brien, who was sitting next to Singh in Parliament, and Apna Dal chief Anupriya Patel, who attended a dinner where the BJP MP was present, have also put themselves in quarantine.

New Delhi: Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Friday said she and her son Dushyant Singh have quarantined themselves after a guest they met in Lucknow was found to be positive for COVID-19.

Raje, her son who is a BJP MP, and his in-laws had recently attended a dinner in Lucknow where Bollywood celebrity singer Kanika Kapoor was also a guest. Kapoor tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday.

Kapoor has become the first Bollywood celebrity to test positive for coronavirus in the country and says she's under complete quarantine and medical care.

"As a matter of abundant caution, my son and I have immediately self-quarantined and we're taking all necessary precautions," Raje said in a tweet.

Singh was present at the party. After that, he also went to Parliament.

Reacting to the news, Trinamool Congress MP Derek O'Brien said in a tweet, "This government is putting us all at risk. The PM says self-isolate yourself but Parliament is on. I was sitting next to Dushyant the other day for 2.5 hours. There are two more MPs who are in self-isolation. The session should be deferred."

Later, O'Brien himself went into self-quarantine.

Apna Dal chief Anupriya Patel also put herself in quarantine after attending a dinner where Singh was present on Thursday.

"I was present at an event yesterday. Fellow MP Dushyant Singh was also present at the event. As a precaution, I am going into self-isolation. I will follow the necessary guidelines by the government," said the Mirzapur MP in a tweet.

Kapoor confirmed the news of her coronavirus infection by sharing a lengthy post on her official Instagram account. Kapoor, who had allegedly flown into India from London 10 days ago, claimed that she began to develop flu-like symptoms four days ago.

Singh on March 18 also visited the Rashtrapati Bhavan for breakfast, where President Ram Nath Kovind hosted MPs from Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Singh is seen in a photograhp shared by the official Twitter handle of the President of India.

Singh was also part of a Parliamentary panel meeting on transport, tourism and culture attended by around 20 MPs and several bureaucrats from railways, aviation and tourism ministries on Wednesday.

Sources said after attending the party in Lucknow with the Bollywood singer who is now undergoing treatment for coronavirus, Singh also attended an industrialist and former MP's birthday party and another more party. He also attended the BJP parliamentary party meeting on March 17.

The other politicians who were at the party Kapoor attended include Uttar Pradesh health minister Jai Pratap Singh and Congress's Deepinder Hooda who have both now quarantined themselves.
