New Delhi: The spate of violence continued in Assam as suspected ULFA militants exploded a bomb in a market area in Assam's Bongaigaon district on Tuesday. However, there was no immediate report of any casualty or injury in the blast.
The incident took place at the Boro Bazar fish market, Superintendent of Police D Das told PTI.
The bomb was planted under a road culvert and it went off around 1115 hours, Das said. Panic prevailed in the area following the explosion. Shop-keepers downed their shutters immediately and the area was cordoned off.
On Sunday, the banned group had exploded a bomb near the Bongaigaon railway station, injuring five persons. Meanwhile, police and paramilitary forces have launched a combing operation in the area.
