Mahhi Vij has not only been a revered television face but also a doting mother when it comes to her children. She and her husband Jay Bhanushali welcomed their daughter Tara in 2019. Prior to that, the couple started to foster two other kids, Rajveer and Khushi, in 2017. Time and again, the actress has been open about her parenting techniques and is quite protective for her three munchkins. Recently, in a Filmygyan podcast, Mahhi opened up about a unique way of teaching her children to do household chores on their own.
During the podcast, Mahhi shared that when her children are bored at home, she makes them do cleaning work inside the house. She stated, “I make them do dusting. I tell them bore ho rahe ho ok take a cleaning cloth and table clean karo sofas clean karo (I tell them If you are bored its ok, take a cleaning cloth and wipe the tables and sofas).” She added, “Bacho ko ye sab thoda thoda sikhana chaihye. To do their room, bedsheet lagana, pillow covers lagana (Kids should learn all this – to do their room, put the bedsheet and pillow covers).”
Not just the values of doing one’s own work, but Mahhi has also been teaching her kids to find satisfaction in boredom. She stated, “Bacho ko bore hona bhi aana chahiye…its very important to get bored because aisa nahi hai ki har din tumhara entertainment hi hoga (Kids should learn to get bored as well. everyday you cannot have some sort of entertainment).” She added that if they are not taught to deal with boredom now, then as adults they might have issues facing loneliness.
Moreover, shedding light on how she has been preparing her kids to face the challenges of life, Mahhi mentioned that she always tells them that they should not “breakdown.” The actress added that she reminds them, “god has given you a challenge and you have to face it because God thinks you can face that challenge.” Furthermore, she encourages them to shine on their own and never compare themselves with others as each child is different. Lastly, Mahhi also stated that while her children are exposed to social media “They are not addicted.”
