HYDERABAD: Normal life was disrupted in Telangana region on Monday due to the bandh called by the TJAC to protest the police ‘excesses’ against MPs and MLAs during rail roko on Saturday. While the bandh was total in nine districts of the region, there was partial response in Hyderabad.No violent incidents were witnessed during the bandh.Trains services were restored after the two-day rail blockade but the officials said the trains would be operated in the region only after the railway personnel complete the inspection of tracks as protestors had removed fish plates or placed stones at a few places during the blockade. The RTC buses which were back on the roads on Sunday after 27 days, again went off the roads in most parts of the region on Monday but resumed services by evening.Schools, banks, commercial establishments and other offices remained closed to a large extent in Telangana districts.The shut down was complete in Warangal, Karimnagar, Adilabad, Nizamabad, Mahabubnagar and Medak disrtricts. Protestors staged a sit-in outside APSRTC depots to prevent the buses from coming out. Police arrested 50 protestors at Narketpalli in Nalgonda district when they staged a road blockade on the Vijayawada- Hyderabad highway.There were reports of road blockades at several places in the region leading to arrests of T activists. About 100 buses coming from Vijayawada towards Hyderabad were stopped by the police on the border of Nalgonda and Krishna districts as a precautionary measure. Passengers were later accommodated in various trains. While some buses returned to Vijayawada, others were diverted through Khammam district.Protestors attacked a petrol bunk in Warangal district. However, there was no impact of the bandh in Hyderabad as the RTC buses operated normally.Even autorickshaws plied normally defying the bandh call. But educational institutions, which were scheduled to reopen on Monday remained closed and will resume classes from Tuesday.
