New Delhi: India is concerned about the possibility of terror attacks during the visit US President Barack Obama's visit in November, sources have told CNN-IBN. Senior Government and security officials have already said that nearly 80 terrorists armed with sophisticated weapons are waiting across the Line of Control to sneak into Jammu and Kashmir to create trouble in the run up to Obama's visit to the country next month.
The terrorists, belonging to Lashkar-e-Toiba, Jash-e-Mohammad, Al Badar and other terror groups, are looking for opportunities at launch pads to cross over to Jammu and Kashmir.
LeT terrorists had carried out a massacre of 36 Sikhs in Chattisinghpora in south Kashmir on the intervening night of March 19-20, 2000 when the then US president Bill Clinton was on his first state visit to India.
But the visit itself for which preparations are going on in full swing may not yield any big announcements, sources added.
India is likely to sign the Convention on Supplementary Compensation for nuclear Damage before Obama's visit to facilitate civil nuclear trade talks. The US is also expected to lift export restrictions on hi-tech equipments especially in field of space.
Obama will also discuss the 'balance in Asia' and China's rising power during his meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. It would be the sixth official meeting between Obama and Singh.
Obama is expected to arrive in Mumbai on November 5 on a three-day official tour to India. He would stay in Taj Hotel while his some of his staff would check in at Trident hotel, both of which were targeted by Pakistani terrorists during the November 26-28 terror attacks in 2008.
A team of officials from the White House and the External Affairs Ministry is likely to visit Mumbai on October 25 to review security, ahead of Obama's tour.
