HYDERABAD: The central government should form a separate Telangana state without any further delay failing which there would be intense and prolonged people's movement, A Gopala Kishan, chairman of Telangana Coordination Committee, has warned.Speaking here at a press conference here on Thursday, he said the committee was sending a letter to UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and prime minister Manmohan Singh seeking immediate formation of separate Telangana state. He said the letter was meant to bring to the attention of central government the prevailing mood of frustration among the people of Telangana and its potential of developing into an explosive situation anytime with far-reaching political and other consequences, and to implement the December 9, 2009 announcement by the Union home minister P Chidambaram.PM Bhargava, former chairman of CCMB, said huge contingents of paramilitary forces were being sent to Hyderabad and other places in Telangana to suppress the mass movement. “ We sincerely request the government that this ill-advised adventure must be dropped. Today the mass of people, particularly the students and youth, consider the issue more as one of preserving the identity of Telengana than the question of employment and development,” he said.The central government should know the factual situation and do not look for ameliorative measures like statutory guarantees or other short or long term packages for separate Telangana state, Bhargava said.Former chief secretary Narendra Luther, former APPSC member Babu Rao Verma, former chief postmaster-general Rajendra Prasad, Telangana Coordination Committee general secretary T Vivek and treasurer A Rajender Babu were present.
