Watch | Operation Golden Hand: Moment When Israeli Forces Freed Two Hostages in Daring Rescue Mission
IDF and Yamam officers rescued two elderly hostages from Hamas captivity and shared the video of the daring extraction/rescue operation.

The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) released a new video where they conducted a daring rescue operation where they extracted two hostages from a southern Gaza apartment from Hamas captivity. The rescuers were themselves shocked to see the IDF forces enter the apartment to their rescue.

The IDF dubbed the rescue operation “Operation Golden Hand”. The operation was conducted in Rafah by the members of the IDF and Yamam special police force. The special operation rescued Argentinian/Israeli citizens Fernando Simon Marman, 60, and Louis Har, 70 from the apartment complex they were held in.

The IDF officers blasted their way into the building and used ropes to extract the two hostages. They then eliminated the Hamas terrorists guarding the hostages. The hostages, brothers-in-law, ran hurriedly in debris-filled streets as the Israeli officers hurried them along to an armoured vehicle waiting for them.

They entered the area where they were being held hostage with a large convoy accompanied by tanks operated by the Shayetet 13 commando unit. “Do you feel good,” an officer was heard asking in the video shared by the IDF. “Excellent,” replied Har, after being freed from Hamas captivity after 129 days.

The IDF gave the men a pair of coats each and sent them to the Sheba Medical Center, in Ramat Gan, aboard army choppers, where they were both listed in good condition. Both of them were shielded by Yamam officers, who used their bodies to guard the two hostages from the bullets fired by Hamas.

Israel army spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said they knew where both men were being held for quite some time but waited until the moment was right.

White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters Monday that the US was “pleased” to hear about the success of the rescue operation in Rafah, according to a report by the New York Post.

Kirby, however, expressed concern about the airstrikes in Rafah which killed over 100 people. He expressed concern over reports that the airstrikes were used to distract Hamas while IDF conducted the raid to rescue the two hostages.
