BANGALORE: The 9th Congress of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Association of Anaesthesiologists will be held at Bangalore International Trade Centre from August 25 to August 28. The event is being hosted under the banner of Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists and is organised by the Bangalore City Branch and the Karnataka state chapter of Indian society of Anesthesiologists.More than 1,500 delegates which includes eminent teachers, scientists, researchers and experts from different parts of the world in the field of anaesthesiology, critical care and pain medicine will participate in the event. Both the Karnataka State Annual Conference and the South Zone Conference of Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists (ISA) for the year 2011 have been merged in to this international event.The theme this year is ‘The Advances in Anaesthesiology - Perception to Perfection’, which has been appropriately chosen taking in to consideration the present day needs not only of the anaesthesia fraternity but also of the society at large. The President of the SAARC Association of Anaesthesiologists Dr Akhtar Aziz Khan from Pakistan and top officials of the World Federation of the Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA) have already arrived in the city to participate in the congress. The presidents, secretaries and other office bearers of member eight national societies of SAARC Association of Anaesthesiologists from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will also be participating in the congress. Eight pre-conference workshops on different subjects have been organised in various hospitals in the city to impart hands-on training to the participants.
