NELLORE: The SHAR authorities have intensified the probe into the theft of a 25kg safety valve, used to cap the container of CS4 liquid fuel, from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) in Sriharikota. The miscreants who smuggled out the valve in a fourwheeler, threw it near the bus stand in DRDL Colony in Sullurpeta on November 18.
According to reliable sources, SHAR controller VG Bhooma visited Pinakini Nagar of DRDL Colony, near the RTC bus stand, for the second time as part of the probe. He also enquired with the RTC official on duty at the control point in the bus stand on that day about the Tata Sumo in which the valve was smuggled out. The SHAR authorities suspect the involvement of some security personnel in the incident as thefts in the high security SHAR were reported twice earlier.

In the first instance, four computers were stolen from an office. About 350 kg of copper wire was stolen in the second instance. All the three thefts took place in a span of one year. Sources said Bhooma who held a meeting with top officials of SHAR, raised the security lapse and asked them to ensure that such an incident does not recur in future.

Meanwhile, CISF commandant Sridhar has strengthened security at the second gate of Satish Dhawan Space Centre.
