BANGALORE: The city south division police cracked 278 cases and arrested 242 persons. Stolen property worth around Rs 3.81 crore has been recovered from the accused. The recovered property includes 5.625 grams of gold articles worth over Rs 2.11 crore. The Chamarajpet police have arrested a notorious thief, Prathap Kumar alias Gowda alias Appu alias Chakravarthy alias Bhaskara (32) of Kodati Gate near Sarjapura Road and have recovered gold ornaments worth Rs 47 lakh from him.He has been accused in cases registered in various police stations of the city and has served sentences in jail thrice. He was released in October 2008 and was absconding since then. He committed series of day-time house breaking . With his arrest, 29 cases have been solved and he has pledged some stolen gold articles with Muthoot Gold Finance and other pawn brokers, the police said.
