New Delhi: From racist onslaught to gandhigiri, Shilpa Shetty’s stay in Big Brother house has created more news than anything else put together on the show.
On Tuesday Shilpa talked to fellow housemates Cleo Rocos and Ian Watkins of how her relationship with Akshay Kumar ruined her prospects as an actress. She also said that “people in India did not like a to see a heroine who isn’t single, as stars are projected in India as attainable to the fans”
Shilpa’s off-screen romance with Akshay was a short-lived one that came to an abrupt end with Akshay’s marriage to actor Twinkle Khanna in year 2000.
What really prompted Shilpa to talk about her long-forgotten relationship now on the Big Brother show, is something yet be figured out. Shilpa also talked about how she was annoyed when she won the best supporting actress award (for Rishtey in 2002) although she was the main heroine in the film. She said “The ones (awards) I wanted I never got. And the ones I did get never really mattered”.
Shilpa’s split from Akshay had surfaced during the making of Dharmesh Darshan’s Dhadkan in which the two were last paired opposite each other. Both Shilpa and Akshay had maintained they were on good terms.
But after so many years, Shilpa’s open remarks on her personal life has got people thinking, what’s really wrong with her?
For someone who keeps mum about her personal life back home, Shilpa certainly seems to be shooting her mouth off. As the Big Brother house gets familiar to her, Shilpa has perhaps forgotten all about the 24-hour camera surveillance over her.
