Mumbai: Former TV tycoon Indrani Mukerjea, her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna and her driver Shyam Rai will be questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation in connection with the mysterious Sheena Bora murder case. A court granted permission to the CBI for interrogation from Wednesday till October 19.
Indrani was discharged from JJ Hospital, where she was under treatment since Friday after falling ill. The 43-year-old fell unconscious in the jail due to suspected drug overdose and rushed to the state-run medical facility five days ago.
Indrani's lawyer had told the court that she has no objection to being questioned by the CBI in the jail.
CBI had moved an application seeking permission to quiz the accused, saying since that it had only recently taken over the investigation from Mumbai Police, interrogation of the trio by them was necessary.
The central agency also told the court if permission for interrogation is not given, it will have to rely on the investigation conducted by local police. The agency had sought at least three weeks to interrogate the accused in jail.
The Metropolitan Magistrate's court had reserved its order till Wednesday on the CBI plea seeking permission to interrogate her and the other two accused in the murder case, who are also under judicial custody.
