CHENNAI: Adding a new dimension to the learning experience, Educomp Solutions Ltd, an education service provider, has launched 3D modules in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.Over a 1,000 schools in Tamil Nadu already have the smart classroom facility, the conceptual and strategic change to what is already available is said to be the first technology of its kind in the world. A seminar titled CLASS 2020 was organised recently in the city to introduce principals and teachers to the future of the classroom.Speaking at a press conference along the sidelines of the seminar, MR Krishnamoorthy, Vice President, Educomp Solutions Ltd, said, “The ability of a child to register facts is greater when the audio-visual medium is used. The need for 3D depends on the depth of the subject. Certain concepts, especially in the sciences, become easier to explain with 3D.” He also said that up to 400 modules were available, but were currently only for classes seven to nine.As per one of the 3D modules demonstrated at the seminar, students will need to wear rechargeable 3D glasses to view the screen. Krishnamoorthy suggests that the 3D modules should initially be started as a lab class and slowly moved into the mainstream. The company also showcased their Smartclass CTS, which is an integrated classroom system, combining chalkboard with a digital interface. It will have a whole range of ready-to-deploy resources like animations, simulation, mind maps, worksheets, web links, diagram maker, graphic organisers and assessment tools.
