BANGALORE: Residents of Benniganahallli ward under Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has been demanding the ward corporator to repair the Coco-Cola Godown Road. The road is also called as Benniganahalli Link road and is one of the shortest route to reach K R Puram from the the city via Banaswadi.“We take this road on regular basis. As traffic on Old Madras Road to reach the city started to escalate, many started to opt for this road. The condition of the road is very bad,” said Kavitha, a shop keeper in the ward. She further said, “The road becomes even more horrible during heavy rains. It will be helpful for us if the works are speeded up,” As the number of vehilces hitting the link road increased it was recently converted into a one-way traffic. But the rule is hardly followed. If the violators are penalised, the traffic on the road can be reduce to some extent. At the very entrance of the ward near Benniganahalli Bus stop, heaps of garbage are dumped. To over come this menace, the residents demands a common dumping pit. They also pointed out that the common dumping pit should be emptied by the Palike once in the morning and again in the evening so that garbage do not ooze out of it.Chandrappa, a retired employee told City Express that door-to-door garbage collection system of BBMP are not implemented in his area.Another major problem in the ward is the maintenance of the park. “The park which is used by many age old citizens like me and also the children needs some attention. The drainage lines in the park gets blocked and releases foul smell, countering the very purpose of our visit to the park to get fresh air and feel refreshed,” added Chandrappa. On a positive note, the streets in the ward are concrete . The residents said that they are supplied with water once in three days. The area corporator Dayanand N was not available for any comments.
