KOCHI: The agitation by nurses continued on Friday as talks between striking unions and managements failed to reach a consensus. A relay satyagraha has been started at the Lakeshore Hospital. United Nurses Association (UNA), which is spearheading the agitation there, said that the management had not called for any discussion.The agitation at the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church Medical College (MOSCMC) at Kolanchery also continued on Friday”.“All India Nurses Welfare Association, Kollenchery, unit president Reena Reji said that the management had called for a discussion on Saturday. “The management is not willing to discuss the major issues. Let us hope that the discussion on Saturday would be fruitful,” she said. UNA state president Jasmine Shah said that the talks held with AIMS management was positive as it agreed to almost all the demands.“The discussion will continue on February 18, where we believe that everything will be sorted out,” he said.The unions had reiterated that they would continue the strike till the demands were met. Meanwhile, many organisations including political parties had declared support to nurses. The All India Medical Association has also backed them.
