BANGALORE: Though medical services were not disrupted due to bandh, the overall turnout of patients was less than the usual strength at many government hospitals on Thursday. Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital which records nearly 1,200 cases every day, attended just 250 patients in out patients department (OPD).The hospital which gets over 20 emergency cases treated three patients in emergency ward. The situation was similar at K C G General Hospital, which treated 250 OPD cases, while on regular days the strength is close to 800 patients.Dr Chandraprabha, medical superintendent, K C G Hospital said, “Most of the patients visit the hospital by public transport. Since there was no public transport services due to bandh, there were only 34 admissions of which 14 were delivery cases.”Vani Vilas Hospital and Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardio Vascular and Research also witnessed 50 per cent less cases in OPD. Besides, though doctors were in full attendance, there were only a few administrative staff due to non-availability of public transport.On the other hand, the average emergency cases attended by 108 ambulance service from Wednesday midnight till Thursday evening was higher.
